Vanilla Cupcake Challenge

Have you ever noticed that a lot of food based business when they have a basic vanilla cupcake it tastes like a sugar cookie?

Sugar cookies are great! Don't get me wrong but when I want a vanilla cupcake I want a vanilla cupcake, not a sugar cookie cupcake with vanilla buttercream.

Since feeling like I have finally perfected my chocolate cakes to the point I can play with the flavors in not only the additions but in the main ingredients and still get my killer delicious product that everyone loves, I need to work on my vanilla game. While vanilla is an easy flavor to work with I've never felt super confident in the outcome. I had made great ones for functions as mini cupcakes but when I decided to grow them into normal size and play with fillings I was so unhappy with the results I threw them away and started over. Lately I'm fining ones that I love in mini form but that's it, and still they taste like a sugar cookies.
